Heliservices Assists in Filming of Batman: The Dark Knight
HONG KONG, 10 June 2008 – Heliservices, Asia's premier helicopter operator and service provider has been hired to assist in the filming of aerial scenes for the Batman series' latest movie, The Dark Knight, the sequel to the 2005 movie Batman Begins.
Heliservices' Twin Squirrel helicopter AS355N and pilots assisted in the filming for The Christopher Nolan-directed movie, Batman: The Dark Knight. The aerial filming in Hong Kong ran from 7th until 16th in November 2007 and involved numerous aerial sequences involving two AS355N's and a Lockheed C130 Hercules aircraft flying over Victoria Harbour. Two helicopters, including Heliservices’ Twin Squirrel conducted filming sorties over West Kowloon, Causeway Bay, Central and Western districts. There will be a sequence in the film showing the AS355N landing on the rooftop helipad of The Peninsula Hong Kong and the actors departing the aircraft.
An IMAX camera was brought from Hollywood and mounted on the nose of the helicopter. All the functions of the camera were carried out remotely by the operator sitting in the back of the helicopter. "The movie will help showcase Hong Kong to international audiences and Heliservices is proud to take part in the filming process," states Chris Buchholz, CEO, Heliservices (HK) Limited.
