Heliservices has launched a new service for nature lovers in Hong Kong. It has teamed up with local operators specialising in adventure, hiking and kayaking to provide drops in remote areas of Sai Kung for customers wishing to enjoy less accessible areas of Hong Kong's countryside, said business development manager Jolie Chung. " This is the year of eco-tourism", she said

It is doing this now to coincide with efforts by the Hong Kong Tourism Board and the SAR Government to promote Hong Kong's natural surroundings.

Heliservices hopes the service will prove attractive to corporations putting together incentive trips for employees, as well as to individual residents entertaining friends and relatives.

Currently, Heliservices' most popular products are its 15-minute and 30-minute sight-seeing flights over Hong Kong, which can be lengthened or tailored to suit passengers' requirements. It also launched a fly-and-dine service in March 2001, whereby passengers enjoy a sightseeing flight and are dropped off on the landing pad of the Peninsula before enjoying a meal at one of the hotel's restaurants. This has proved very popular with corporate customers, especially when entertaining clients, and has enjoyed a 50 percent surge in bookings since its launch, Jolie said.

She said that Heliservices has the edge over its competitors in Hong Kong in that its smaller helicopters, seating just five people, and its larger window areas, allow each passenger a better aerial view.
